About Dental Implants

Dental implants are an excellent permanent solution to replacing missing, damaged or discolored teeth. Our professionals at Start Smiling, Dr. Cherof and Dr. Sayeg have trained painstakingly and have taken countless hours of continuing education in the art of placing dental implants. Whether you need one, or multiple teeth replaced, our skilled physicians are prepared to help you. The process of placing a Biohorizons dental implant begins with the surgical placement of titanium posts into the jawbone, replacing what was once the tooth's root. Your implants will then be adhered to the titanium post for long lasting results. If you're considering Biohorizon dental implants, we would be glad to sit down and have a consultation with you at your earliest convenience.

What to Expect

Before a Biohorizon dental implant is placed, a thorough examination will be conducted to  assess whether the health and strength of the gums and jawbone. If the patient is a good candidate for dental implants, digital X-rays and physical impressions will help our Start Smiling dental physicians to determine the best placement for the dental implants during the procedure. Patients will be given local anesthesia and sedation if needed while Dr. Sayeg or Dr. Cherof places the titanium post into the jawbone. Over three to six months, the bone and implant will fuse while healing and once the implant is secure, the false tooth/teeth will be attached to the implant using a connector. Dr. Sayeg or Dr. Cherof will adjust the Biohorizon dental implant and replacement teeth for a comfortable and accurate fit.

Treatment Aftercare

Most patients have little to no pain after their Biohorizon dental implants are finished, but some may have temporary soreness and discomfort that can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain medication, like Aspirin or Tylenol. To prolong the life of dental implants, you should have a good home oral care routine including brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash. Regular dental appointments for professional cleanings and dental exams are also important to implant care. Dental implants can last a long time with proper care, but may eventually need to be repaired or replaced.

Insurance Coverage

If your dental implants are considered medically necessary, your dental insurance plan might cover some or most of the costs. However, cosmetic dental implants are usually not covered by insurance. During your consultation, our office can confirm your insurance coverage and discuss payment options and financing plans.
